nix the art

Kindergarten art sucks! My task today has been tracing projects on construction paper. That sounds easy right? WRONG! Try tracing six legs, one head and one body (ants) on a piece of paper and repeat 20 times...and that was only one project.
For a break I went to the grocery store. Hurrah.

On a happier note: Last night I slept for about twelve hours. So what is the deal stay awake all week and then sleep one long night? Weird.

Smoked Turkey

Went to Jon and Shannon's for dinner. Jon smoked a turkey and it was so moist and tasty. Yum!

I am going to try to crash early I am tired now so I am going to try sleep while the mood is striking me. Nite Nite

This and That

Had fun at the shower yesterday! Good Times!

Mr. Sandman didn't come near my place once again. So at 3:00 I got up and sewed a quilt. Not the Hawaiian shirt one, I need to be really awake for that one.

It has been an old movie marathon lately. One of my favorite old films, "Love With The Proper Stranger"-Steve McQueen and Natalie Wood- was on last night. And today has been a lot of oldies but goodies too.

Well nothing else much happening...over and out.

Aloha

Regarding those Hawaiian shirts...I hit the mother load at Salvation Army today. Did you know that Friday all clothing at S.A. is half price? I found five brand new never worn or washed really nice Hawaiian shirts. I paid $1.50 each. I put them through the wash and I will be ready to try the quilt anytime. I did have to wait for ever as a huge old guy was hogging the row and wouldn't move! And another old lady drove over the curb from Oakland to get there, she didn't see the driveway. No doubt because she couldn't see over the steering wheel.

Jon had poker night so I am going to have a salad with Shannon. We can't go to a movie as now she is spoiled and will only go to the cheap theater.

GO CI GO

This important update just in: The Crosby Ironton Ranger boys basketball team won their first game at State this week and are still undefeated! Send them good wishes they will need it! GO-CI-GO

FYI: I am in need of Hawaiian shirts...if anyone is planning on ditching any to Good Will...I would love to have them. I have been thinking about making a quilt out of them.
Oh and I always want & need blue jeans! Donations always desired and appreciated!
More projects being knocked off my list. Check.

I am looking forward to LBF's party! Can't wait. I love baby shower's! Can you tell?

Dead Man Walking

You don't know the half of how relaxing an Easter I had...
Insomnia for weeks now plus the company and early schedule really got me down. I was a dead man walking. I was suppose to bring a salad to Venessa's for what I'm sure was a lovely dinner but I couldn't make it. About 3:30 I called Shannon and dropped off my salad...poor Jon came out to the car in the pouring and I mean pouring rain. I felt sick I was so exhausted. I came home and climbed into bed by five PM. & turned off my phone. Thankfully, I slept all night about 12 blissful hours. I feel so much better.

Monday I was productive and stayed up sewing until midnight. The sewing project needed a plastic piece about the size of a ruler only longer. So I called Shannon three times (no wonder she was cranky) giving her measurments to give Jon and ask if he could make something at work. By the last call I said erase it all...I am going to use a paint-stir stick. That reminded me so much of my dad. He would be knee deep in a project and yell "go get me a ...screw driver, hammer, nail whatever"...but by the time you got back he had figured out how to use a dime, stick, or whatever! It was sooo frustrating.
God, what I wouldn't give to have him here to ask me to run for something now...miss you dad, so much!

Don't take the people you love for granted because when they are gone you are lost without them.

I waited and waited!

Today was a busy and crazy day...Shannon was at Wicked so I and Dave each drove to pick up Jon and my guests...but of course nothing goes right when airplanes, college kids and guys who are NID's (not into details) are involved. So when we got there we did my favorite thing...waited and waited. Then figured out that some could go and some had to stay. Well hell, I decided to go...Hey it wasn't my trip. So I left Jon my keys. So when some of us got to my house...you guessed it, no keys! Shit! So we waited and waited. Shit! Poor Dave a kindness turned out to be a long long ordeal.

*On a different note I knew it! Tuesday when the movie was a buck...I thought, let's not stand in this ungodly long line lets come back when the movie is 3.00 and no one will be here, those old farts are cheap and they want the dollar movie...I was right, went on Friday and no one...

Clean Sweep

I saw 27 Dresses on Tuesday and No Reservations tonight...it is truely been a romantic week!

I have been on an organizing week. I had to get the material in my sewing room in some order. I found that everyday I was pawing through bins with the same care a grizley would go through a garbage can, to find one scrap of this or that. I have now made some, if little, progress. We will see when I start sewing...

Misc.

Here is what Shannon forgot to put in her blog about Jon's Bahama's trip...
The part she left out was that when we drove up to the airport it was actually driving into a small parking lot behind a dark building. Where a third of the students were sitting on the parking lot tar in the pitch dark. Those lucky kids had taken the first hotel shuttle & been literally dropped off--lock, stock and duffel bag. (You couldn't have paid me to get on that airplane. In fact you could have put Elvis Presley on that plane and I still wouldn't have gotten on!)

New subject, I just got off the phone with my husband who is so excited C-I high school is 32 & 0 and playing a game against Pelican Rapids to go to the state basketball games. This is the very same town of Pelican Rapids my husbands team played to go to state in 1969. C-I beat them in three over-times! I hope C-I can do it again.
GO-CI-GO!!!

good company

I have had three college girls staying with me the last couple days. They are going to the Bahama's on a dive trip with my brother and JP. (It is for a coral reef class.) They have been great fun. I will miss them when they leave tomorrow!

Other than that I have just been busy sewing etc.

Ja ever?

Did you ever wonder how much of your life is spent WAITING?
Waiting in lines. Waiting for a phone call. Waiting for people who are late. Waiting for the movie to start. Waiting for appointments. Waiting is for shit! I hate it. I figure just waiting has taken up a third of my life. If I had put that time to better use I might be rich by now.

One of my old friends summed up how I feel about waiting. Here is her story:
"He was supposed to be there to pick me up at 8:00. I waited. I waited. I waited and waited and waited and paced and paced and waited and waited...and then it was ten minutes after 8:00!"

Nothing Much

Went to the Baby expo with Shannon today. It was overwhelming. Not just all the products but signing for up for all the free goodies, so we did the divide and conquer... (When I would sign up I could see the thoughts on their faces, "She is the oldest P.G. Mom ever!")

Some good info though. I am interested in the Cord Blood thing...any body have an opinion? It is expensive. It was so much easier having a baby in my day. We didn't know all the stuff we were doing wrong. Ignorance is bliss.

I was going to spend the evening with Shannon but Jon came home early...I guess the camping trip went bust...so as I was gone from 10:00 to 4:30 I came home to the dog. Angel was so happy to see me!

Cup of coffee

(To steal Crystal's intro)...note2self...Connie-don't drink coffee after breakfast! Every time I do I can't sleep that night. I must not tolerate caffine well. Jan's last day we had a late afternoon coffee session...and I was awake all night. We went to Bahama Breeze and sat on the deck so relaxing with the rain coming down.

We watched Surviver, she likes that show, I haven't watched it since the first season...interesting. I watched Lost in bed. Should I admit I am a bit lost this season. Which is weird since this is the answers year.

Today took guest to airport at 6:00 am and now cleaning. You could use any surface in my place to write me a note!

Jan, Angel and I miss you already!

Fun times

Bunko on Tuesday was fun. Last night was also fun. Shannon came over and she and Jan and I had dinner and then watched "Game Plan" with the Rock and the cutest little girl ever! (I hope I get a grand daughter just like her.) Tonight is Jan's last night so we might go down to the ocean and eat. I wish she could stay for another week but alas she has commitments. She has had fun sitting in the sun this week. Maybe I should have been sitting with her as I came from the doctor and he said my vitamin D level was 12 and should be 60-100. So I am on mega doses now! I may have to get out there in the sun.
I finished the stuff for LBF and just in time too as I got a shower invite today! Can't wait.

Birthday Bash or Bomb?

I had this lovely dinner planned for six. For a special but quiet celebration for Shannon's birthday. Here is what happened.
One day earlier:
My friend's plane which should have been landing at 11:40 pm Sunday, didn't get in until 1:30 am Monday. We drove home tried to unwind a bit, went to bed at 2:45. I could not sleep...not a wink all night. Dog slept fine.
Monday:
I get out of bed at 6:00 am, work on birthday dinner and cake all day. (Thank goodness I did some of it ahead of time.) I was exhausted before the party started and in a bit of a deer in the headlights state.
Jon had B-ball...needed to eat early and light ( no beer) leave early for his game.
Dave had jury duty and got here at around 8:00 two hours after dinner.
Venessa had to unexpectedly clean out her garage to make room for her new room-mate's Harley...missed it all together.
Dave, Jan and I sang a very out of tune, Happy Birthday, to Shannon, cut the cake-ate fast and furiously.
I did dishes and kicked everyone out, including Shannon. Literally it was 8:30 and guests were gone and I went to bed.
Poor Dave I made him eat dinner and desert in 20 minutes! I'm sure he still has indigestion!
I jumped into bed at 8:30 with my "Better than sex cake"...stomach ache and fell promptly to sleep. But yes. I slept soundly until 6:00 am this morning. Life is good today. (Just one day too late.)

Sorry Shannon, it wasn't the birthday party I invisioned but I will make it up to you this weekend when Jon is camping. We will do something really fun! A mom and daughter day. (Hope the Coach purse helped make up for the Birthday Bomb.)

Tina and Tony's Wedding was a ball! You could really act like a nut and fit right in. It was very interactive. Poor Jon got roped into going too but in the end I think he had fun. And I know that Shannon liked having him there. The food was a whole different story...not good. (Cake not bad.) When I got home I had popcorn and it was the highlight.
All and all it was a very good night and great way to celebrate Shannon's, soon to be, birthday.

Thank's Uncle Vinnie for inviting us!

Old Gray Mare

Gray be gone. I am coloring my hair today, right now in fact. I haven’t done it since I left home and boy is it awful. I am doing it for Tina and Tony’s wedding reception tonight
I don’t really know Tina and Tony but Shannon and I are going for something fun to do on her birthday weekend. . I will tell you tomorrow if I think their marriage will last, ha-ha. (For those of you who aren’t familiar, we aren’t crashing…it’s a play.)

A very old and dear friend is flying in tomorrow to spend a few days with me and I am so excited! We have known each other since, well forever, and we have a ball when we are together. I wish our husbands were here too, but we will have to make the best of it--girl time is always fun as well. When Jan is hear she loves to read by the pool and work on her tan. I told her not to bring books as she can read my Janet Evanovich books, the Stephanie Plum series. I bet she will love them.

Gotta run the old gray mare must rinse!
