Thrifty Shoppers

On my trip I had a ball. The park that our friends live in is so fun. Everyone is friendly, so much for us old folks to do...I wish we lived there. They have everything. Everything except Shannon and my Grand baby to be, that is!

I bet you didn't know that there are 32 Thrift shops in Bonita Springs. Well there are. Unfortunatly we didn't make it to all 32 after all we only had two days...but us three gals made a dent. It was fun. I was treated like a queen.

I loved being free...I didn't miss the dog at all. I will leave it to Shannon to tell you the events of their night.

Can do

A couple of busy days. Appointments, sewing, cleaning...boring!

Today a baby lizard scooted in and I was trying to trap it with a couple of pieces of paper. I think I hurt it's leg. I felt so bad. He was dragging it behind him. But I put him by some plants in the yard and when I checked later he was gone.

I am crossing the everglades tomorrow to visit some friends. Rio is babysitting Angel. So I am going to live it up at the retirement village. I'm sure I can't keep up with those retired types except for cocktails in the clubhouse-that I can do!

Miracle on 44th Street

Something amazing happened! Last week I broke a tooth. It had a big filling and I knew that I would need a crown. Now for those of you too young to understand the financial consequences of a crown, they cost around $1500. In a previous blog I said I was part Native American Indian. One of the perks is I get free dental work. So I was not too happy this happened in FL. I called Shannon's dentist, Dr. Garcia and made an appointment hoping he could work some magic and limp me back to MN.

When I saw him he offered to put in a temporary filling by bonding it with some junk. It took about a half hour, Yada Yada. Now comes the amazing part....wait for it...
he didn't charge me anything! It was free! Seriously, I couldn't believe it. So I highly recommend Dr. Garcia. He is a nice man.

Now I would like to do something nice for him. My husband suggested a bottle of liquor, but I am not sure about that. I could bake something, but I am not a baker...remember the muffins from yesterday! What do you think? Booze? Wine? or ? let me know.

Down-size

Reading other blogs and seeing how great everyone is doing on their goals makes me pissed at myself. I vowed I would down-size right after Christmas and I don't mean my closets! As far as I know this is WAY after Christmas...so unless I was talking about next Christmas I had better get started! I have a dream...........

Pioneer life

My day with Shannon turned out to be just dinner for the three of us and Venessa. Shannon was busy with school work and I was busy watching the Hallmark series Love Comes Softly and the next five sequels! I had quite a day living the pioneer life, crying when they had sorrow and rejoicing when there were happy times. I love that time in history. All in all it was a good day.

Today Shannon and I are hanging out and plan to have pizza later.
Oops just burned the muffins! Crap.

HOW

There is nothing quite as satisfying as making a gift for someone. You hope that they will enjoy using it as much as you have making it…sweet joy. Yes, the process can be frustrating as things never go quite as perfect as you wish they would but isn’t that why they call it homemade? They say Indians weave in a mistake on purpose so that the project will not be perfect. Did I tell you that I am part Chippewa? True. I am even registered and have a number. My point...it will not be perfect. On purpose of course.

I have been invited to my next door neighbor’s son’s 1st Birthday party. I don’t know my neighbor’s except to say hi. I don’t know their name and they don’t know mine. I don’t understand much of anything they say-language barrier-but when I saw she was having a baby last year I made them a baby quilt and now I am family. Apparently, the whole family is invited to the party so that includes me. Lord I hope no one asks me a direct question because even when they are speaking English I don’t get most of it. I am going on a hunt for the perfect gift whatever it is I am going to embroider his name, Joel, on it. (My dear husband sent me my E-machine…what a sweetie.) I know his name his Joel because it said so on my invitation. Knowing how much 1year olds love clothes I will of course pick up a toy or book as well. She would like Shannon to come, as she is family by association. I hope she does, there is safety in numbers. It’s on March 9th so I will let you know how it goes.

Since Jon is off with the boys today I get to spend a little time with Shannon.

Bad Blogger

Good Lord has this much time really past since I last blogged? I do not have the excuse of being pregnant. However, I do have a pregnant Mommy on my ass 24-7! Shannon is keeping me running. By the time I finish all HER chores and mine I crash. In my quest to keep her a float I may be sinking...I have many unfinished projects hanging over my head. I may have to drink coffee at night instead of wine to stay awake and work on them.

I accompanied her to the high risk doctor on the 19th as Jon wasn't going and was treated to a wonderful surprise...an ultra sound. WOW that was something special. I will never forget this first glimpse of my grandbaby! While I was waiting for them to finish I was sitting knitting in the inside waiting room and an old doctor guy was talking to some nurses and everything I over-heard led me to tell Shannon...I hope that is not the guy you are seeing...he is a nut-case. I was right...he was the Buffoon Doctor she mentioned.

Today I swore was my day. (Those unfinished projects.) So I started organizing the sewing room. I needed to get organized to start LBF's gift. I am busy working on it and having a ball!

Movie Madness

For those of you here in Florida-did you know that the movie theater in Tamarac at Nob Hill and McNab costs only $3.oo a person every day of the week any time? And better yet on Tuesdays it is .99 cents all day and night? Which translates to I can see three movies there for the price of one at Sawgrass. The movies showing are not that old either. Right now Ella Enchanted and PS I Love You are two of the five movies playing and they only came out at Christmas. Also the new George Clooney one is playing. Another is benefit is parking, parking at the Sawgrass Mall is a nightmare anytime. I have heard the theater is very clean, I am going to a movie this weekend I will let you know if that is true. The only thing is it's probably not stadium seating so I will have to move three times to get a seat behind someone short...oh well at that price I will do the head-bob if needed.
So the next time a movie sounds like a good idea check it out.

I am sure by now no one is reading my blog it has been so long since I have had time to write. But now that my company is gone maybe atleast I can read some.

My relatives had a problem getting home because of bad weather. Ironically, not MN bad weather, snow, but Florida bad weather, rain and tornados. They went to the airport at noon on Wed. and didn't make it home until 1:00 Thursday afternoon. Luckily, while he was here, Jon borrowed Ian his PSP and Ian liked it so much he bought one just before he left. I'm sure his mother was thankful he had it, as they spent 24 hours in airports. Lilly had her game boy and the kids had home work...I'm sure homework was the highlight! You never know about flying...ask Shannon to tell you her weather related flying horror stories sometime.

Today was a whirlwind of laundry, cleaning and errands. Now I am watching Lost and crashing. (Not literally, I hope.)

Short order cook

Erin brought up a good point about the baby we are awaiting being more exhausting than 2 grade school kids...but she is forgetting one thing, I won't be the one getting up! That is why being the grandma is so perfect, I can have the baby when it's good, give it back when it's not.

I hope that both of your babies will sleep like Shannon did. From the first night we brought her home she slept all night. The first night we were scared to death and stood by the crib from about 2:00 on making sure she was breathing. I even changed her while she slept. She was always a good sleeper.

But I guess I paid for that later because she was a terrible eater! What a fight that was. I finally had to give up and make her the three things she liked over and over every night. I was reminded of it this week. Everyone wanted a different meal. Ian likes nothing. So in an attempt to get him to eat anything good for him at all-I made what he liked in addition to our meals. Although he barely ate any of it. (He fills up on too much pop, donuts & cookies.) However, Lilly is such a good eater and will try almost anything. I feel like a short order cook! Last night I even dreamed of cooking and dishes!

So here is to healthy, happy, sleepy babies.

Nite Nite

Fun day shopping nephew and neice got a lot of great summer clothes. (Will most likely out grow them before summer comes to MN. Drove to the beach and had dinner at Lulu's bait shack. Having two children around is exhausting. So I am crashing early...

A day in the life

Yesterday was busy. I cleaned, shopped for groceries, made up the beds in the guest rooms & cooked spaghetti and meatballs. Yes, I was getting company! My sister-in-law & my niece and nephew came for a weeks visit. Kathy rented a car and after getting lost three times finally got here. My directions were impeccable but still following Florida's oddly marked roads can be a challenge.

Shannon came over after work and the five of us had snacks, got them settled in, had dinner and a nice relaxing visit. They were tired after their trip so we all put on PJ's and the kids watched a movie in bed. Kathy read while I watched some Cashmere Mafia then we crashed early. Tomorrow we have shopping planned for summer clothes for the kids and a trip to the ocean.

It's only about 4:30 A.M. but I can't sleep. So I am playing on the computer which is quieter than TV, although I do love TV this time of night--paid programming. I always wonder why companies chose to sell their wares in the middle of the night. Who do they think is watching? I bet they hope some of us insomniacs are in a sleep deprived stupor and will just pick up the phone. One night I did that and bought Kaboom. Wow, do I love that for cleaning showers! Kaboom is a verb to me now. I always say to my husband…did you Kaboom today. I like to spray the shower every three or four days then you never have to scrub, it just stays clean. I worry while I’m down here that he won’t keep up with it. I am anal about clean showers.

Sharing these details of my boring life has put even me to sleep--over and out!

Dumb & Dummer

This week I did two really stupid things. Well, two I'll admit to. (I think I must have something on my mind.) But I better get my head in the game or I'll be broke. Or should I say John will be broke and I'll be cut off.

First, I went to Sams Club and bought a few things one of which was a case of water which I put on the bottom of my cart. When I got home I realized that is where it stayed. I hope the Cart-Boy was thirsty.

Second, I drove to Coral Springs to check out a couple fabric stores. I was right next to the Target at the Expressway and University and needed several things, one of which was an over-the-door towel bar. When I got home I had everything but that. The girl forgot to put it in my cart. I was pissed but it hardly made sense to drive all that way back to get it.

I hope my husband doesn't read this! Anyway from now on I am going to check all bags and carts. Please tell me this has happened to someone besides me!

Super Bolt Sunday

Today I had planned a fun day of Super Bolt shopping at a near by material store. (Big sale, huge.) But the best laid plans...and all that. Shannon wasn't feeling good so I stayed to fix her lunch. Still not feeling good. Then I stayed to fix her Super Bowl party food. Still not feeling good. So I am picking up Jon for her and staying to fix her dinner. Then just going home so she can go to bed. No Super Bolt Party for me. (But I am going to be a Grandma...that makes up for anything!)

Sleepy Time

Went shopping with Shannon. Well shopping with her now is more of a one-stop-shop experience...she is always tired. Then we had lunch to ward off the nausea. Then home to rest and off to dinner with Venessa at Moon Thai. While waiting she needed a snack. Now home to rest. Do you see a pattern here?
